Description

Added by Kelly Tierney

This hike took us from about 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM where we promptly began making our way back down the mountain. The views and scenery are so breathtaking you will lose complete track of time and discover an extremely peaceful aspect of life that most people do not get to experience. There are several water spots with fresh water, and there are some technical rocky areas with more difficulty, hiking wise. There are two routes to take, an easier route to the left of the waterfall, and a more difficult/vertical route to the right of the waterfall.

In order to get to the Mohawk Lake Trail, you can start the adventure at the Spruce Creek Trailhead, which is about 1.7 miles long. This part of the hike is least strenuous and takes you through piney woods and beautiful creeks and water streams. Once you get to where Mohawk Lake begins, you have about 6.8 miles up the mountain and back down.

You can either park at the Spruce Creek Trailhead or continue up the road (4WD needed - FDR 803) to hook up with Mohawk Lake Trail.
