Run the Carriage Trail
There is room to park just off San Timoteo Road. On the other side of the trail is more parking off Alessandro. You can park your car on either side and start your run/walk/bike ride. This is a nice little "get away" trail to take a break from suburbia.
Summit Mt. San Bernardino from Angelus Oaks
The trailhead is somewhat 'interesting' to get to given the dirt roads are in questionable shape and some of the roads in Angelus Oaks are not easily identifiable but I didn't have any problems finding it by closely following Google Maps. Trailhead parking requires an Adventure Pass parking permit. Also, as of this writing, permits are NOT required for day hikes, however I was told that thi...
San Bernardino Peak
The San Bernadino Peak Trail out of Angelus Oaks is a very challenging hike, which can either be done as a day hike or an overnight trip. Free permits are required for day hiking and overnights in the San Gorgonio Wilderness. These permits can be accessed via Sgwa.org/permits.
If you choose to make this an overnight and break up some of the long trail, there are beautiful views from the Limbe...
Mt. San Gorgonio via Vivian Creek
A hiking permit is required to hike in the San Gorgonio Wilderness. Apply for the permit early as the Vivian Creek Trail is the second most popular trailhead for the area and quotas fill up in advance. The permits are free and the entire process can be handled via fax or mail. All the information for the permit system can be found here here.
Start hiking early. The parking lot quickly fills on...
Hike Two Trees Trail
Parking is free at the trailhead, but there is only room for approximately five cars. The trailhead is on the edge of a neighborhood, so you can park there if needed.
From the parking lot, head west, and immediately veer right and across the bridge. If you go left at the first fork, you can stay to the left of the creek, going past two caves. This is excellent if you want to enjoy a short, flat...
Jenks Lake
If you want to experience beauty and solitude in SoCal look no further than Jenks Lake. Not too far from Big Bear Lake, but secluded enough to keep most away in the winter, Jenks Lake is a small but lovely alpine lake near HWY 38 in Angelus Oaks.
Driving to the lake is beautiful in itself as HWY 38 gives you some great mountain views. In winter chains may be required. You can take 38 all the ...
