Mile High Campground - A Mile Above The Rest

This is one of those places I don't even want to share, I just want to keep it all to myself

By: Alex DiTomaso + Save to a List

When you find that one perfect campground that you visit over and over again, it begins to feel like home. Mile High Campground is a place I would love to call home. In my opinion, Mile High offers the best views of the Smoky Mountains National Park. For 3 consecutive years, I've returned to this campground and each year the sites fill up earlier and earlier. This is one of those places I don't even want to share, I just want to keep it all to myself. The first visit in 2013- I called and got a same day reservation at site T-00 the best site I returned the next two years and camped at different sites and neither of those sites have topped T-00.

Plan on having zero cell service at this campground as it is in the middle of no where. And the perfect off the grid relaxation spot. Call ahead to make a reservation and be prepared to drive down a long dirt road before reaching the campground. Elk and bears frequent the campsites but it still remains an incredible campsite.
