Chasing The Colors - Autumn in The Adirondacks
I packed my car and began to drive in search of Fall. I drove until I found color and ended up in the Adirondack Mountains.
I heard that the leaves were peeking in New England, busy with school and work, I was determined to find time to see the colors so when class got cancelled, I packed the car and took off with no hesitation! I’ve always heard that upstate New York was worth visiting in the Fall - but I’ve never seen Fall like this. So vibrant. So colorful. So picturesque. It was incredible! If you ever have the opportunity to visit the Adirondack Mountains in Autumn, please go! My only regret was not staying longer.
My first stop was at Schroon Lake, a quaint town located in the Adirondack Park. I followed signs to a public beach and was greeted by blue water and colorful mountains all around. The water was surprisingly warm for October.
I continued to drive and headed toward the Adirondack High Peaks Region- following the bumpy dirt road to Adirondack Loj which is the trail head for multiple different hikes. There is also an information office and a beautiful wooded campground with tent sites and beautiful camping cabins. I chose the hike to Mount Jo, which did not disappoint. With unbelievable colors all around I followed the trail to the summit, here I was above the tree line looking out at the rainbow forest and mountains surrounding me.
If you hop off the trail shortly before reaching the summit theres an incredible view of Heart Lake that you won't want to miss!
