Day hike up to eight mile, would've loved to camp but you need a permit. Lots of wildflowers at the beginning of the trail. After the initial climb, you drop into a valley of red rock and burnt trees. The trail is fairly flat. I would've liked to go further to the far end of the lake, but the lady opted for the hammock and marmot viewing.
