What a beautiful and wild area to explore! There is a county road on both sides of Factory Butte. The road that approaches Factory Butte on the east side (entrance is closer to Hanksville) is more accessible to normal vehicles. The road on the west side of Factory Butte is strictly a high clearance 4x4 route. After passing Factory Butte as you head north, the road drops down into a badlands valley and this is definitely a 4x4 vehicle route that should only be done when there is no chance of rain.
