Photographing the Super Bloom 2016
DEATH VALLEY, California
Description
Added by Andrew Conway
The hottest place on Earth rarely sees any flowers at all each year. Around every 10 years, a floral super bloom occurs which blankets the normally lifeless desert.
This winter has given us the greatest bloom of wildflowers that Death Valley National Park has seen in a decade. This year's El Nino has brought a combination of rain and temperatures to bring about this floral spectacle. The bloom will continue for the next month or so. Those looking to photograph the spectacle can stop along the road along many of the roads through the park and hike through fields of yellow desert golds, purple notchleaf phacelias, and more. This only occurs when conditions are perfect, so get out there as soon as you can!
