One of the most beautiful places I have ever camped and fishedThe water was clear and full of fishThe hiking was amazing and the view was simply breathtakingThe trailhead starts at 8400'27 mile roundtrip trek

We started the hike at Agnew meadows campsite just a few miles from Mammoth Mountain Village early in the morning. Agnew's is already at 8400 feet so it is recommended that you arrive the night before to acclimate to the higher altitude.

You can take the river trail or the rim trail, we chose to take the rim trail on the way there and the river trail on the way back. I would recommend you take the river trail on the way there because there are more locations for water and resting. It took us about 9 hours to reach Thousand Island lakes but it was worth the effort.
