These natural hot springs are absolutely magnificent yet unique. Just off the road and located near a popular tourist town this makes for an awesome day trip. Easy parking, bathrooms and restaurants nearby make for an easy and family friendly trip.
These natural hot springs are crazy cool and very rare, which makes for an unforgettable trip. The hot springs are located right off of highway 89. With easy parking, restrooms and a town less than half a mile up the road this location is very convenient. The area provides boardwalks which makes viewing the springs close and personal. It is HIGHLY ADVISED TO NOT WANDER OFF THE BOARDWALKS, the ground is very unstable in the area. This area is very populated with Elk and predators of the Elk which influence the Elk to wander and chill in the local town for safety.
A camera is an essential for this trip. You won't want to forget this experience. During the summer it can get hot so LOTS of WATER and SUN SCREEN. During the winter seasons it can get chilly so bring layers, rain jacket for sporadic weather change and an umbrella.

Crystalline and travertine landscape
The Mammoth Hot Springs is another unique feature of Yellowstone with fascinating geology. This area was less populated with visitors and had ample parking area. The boardwalks offer up close views of the rock terraces and crystallized carbonate precipitated from the hot springs.

Worth the stop!
I didn't do this on my 1st trip to Yellowstone and I am so glad I had the time to do it the 2nd time around. It's pretty and unique! A fun stop!

Part of a Complete Yellowstone Experience!
I really enjoyed hiking around these hot springs! It was hard to look at them and not feel like they were big blocks of ice. All springs in the area were worth taking the time to see. The entrance to the Springs area has a nice area for a picnic lunch that my family took advantage of! We were even visited by an elk and her baby! You've got to always be ready for wildlife all over Yellowstone.
