Description

Added by Julian Spina

This short scramble will challenge you as you make your own path to the top. The 360 degree views are well worth the effort.

This adventure is located between Laramie and Cheyenne on Happy Jack Road (WY 210).  Take Forest Road 707A east for 1.4 miles and th en take a left at the fork (Forest Road 707AG).  The trailhead is at the end of the second left turn (only about 200 yards from the fork).  The forest roads are not paved but there are several pull-offs to park at if you don't think your car can make it all the way to the trailhead.

From here, you will be able to see the twin peaks.  The trail goes straight toward the saddle between the peaks and then makes a sharp left turn, you can either follow the trail (it leads to the back side of the mountain, not to the top), or you can turn right, heading up to the peaks.  There is no trail to the top but you can navigate the steep, rocky terrain without much trouble.  From the top of the saddle you can pick which peak you'd like to head to.

The top offers views in every direction, however it can get pretty windy so it's not a bad idea to have an extra layer.  The easiest way back is down the saddle, but as long as you remain on the same side (the north side) of the mountain, any route will lead you back to the trail.
