Description

The Vedauwoo Recreation Area is full of massive rock sculptures. Hike around the boulders of climb over them, regardless it's an incredible place to explore.
A few pictures of Vedauwoo could not do justice to the miles and miles of rock sculptures in the area. These weathered boulders are huge and cover the land. Formations like the Nautilus (referring to the submarine) spark the imagination and make Vedauwoo feel more like art.
Both free and established campsites are available right next to the formations. The Vedauwoo Campground(has a nightly fee) is located near one of the main features known as Turtle Rock, which can be walked around via the 3.6 mile Turtle Rock Trail and scrambled up through the box canyon. It's a great place for a picnic.
Climbing in Vedauwoo is not for the faint of heart. You can expect plenty of scrapes and bruises as you do what ever it takes to get to the top. Many locals climb the off-width cracks in pants and long sleeve shirts. Make sure to stop in at the local climbing shop in Laramie for a guide book to find the classics. I highly recommend warming up with the 2 pitch 5.7 known as Edwards' Crack. It's located on Turtle Rock and it's quite a beautiful introduction to Vedauwoo.
