A moderately strenuous mountain bike ride with the best view of the Tetons you'll find. The mountain also has amazing free campsites and places to hike.

There's a few ways you can go about doing this route. When I did it, I did a lollipop loop starting and ending at Dornan's (Moose Junction). You can rent a mountain bike from the shop for $41 for a half day (up to 5 hours), and you could either leave from there or rack the bikes up on your car and drive to get a little closer.

If you're biking from Dornan's, follow the multi-use pathway out of the parking lot and take a left to go under the main road. You'll go past Blacktail Butte to eventually merge with Antelope Flats Road. From this point on, you'll be biking on the side of a lightly use road. Look out for wildlife in this area! There's often bison, elk, and allegedly sometimes moose. Take a left at the four-way stop, then follow the signs to "National Forest Access." After a couple of miles on a decent dirt road, you'll reach a parking lot with a map and information about camping. Prepare yourself mentally to ride up the mountain for the next three miles, then head up the dirt road that "gently" switchbacks up. As a person who does not mountain bike, I thought the ride up was brutal and felt like roughly 15 miles, but people in better shape than me might find it fairly moderate. The view of the Tetons is incredible the entire way.

Follow the road aaaall the way up to the top of the mountain. When you get to the top, the road splits and there's a small, single-track mountain bike trail that takes you back down the mountain. Look for a grove of young aspens on your left that almost looks like an orchard. The trail starts here, on the left of the road. It's pretty steep in some places, but is relatively well-maintained and smooth. Take this trail all the way down until you intersect with another dirt road. Turn left onto the road and follow it back to the parking area, then retrace your route to wherever you started.

If you want to skip biking the mountain (fair enough), you can drive up to the top on the relatively well-maintained dirt road and bike down on the mountain bike path. To access the road, turn right onto Antelope Flats Road (about a mile north of Moose Junction). Follow the above directions from here to reach the parking lot. If you want, you can park here and bike up and back down the mountain. Otherwise, head up the winding dirt road to the top of the mountain or to a campsite if that's your plan. If you're shuttling, leave a vehicle in the parking lot at the bottom.
