Hike the Seven Bridges Trail in Grant Park

2 Miles Total - Loop Trail

Originally added by Jon Mattrisch

Seven Bridges Trail seems like an enchanted forest located off the shores of Lake Michigan just south of Milwaukee. Its towering trees and flowing streams sprawl throughout acres of stunning landscapes. Cross over the seven bridges and experience the beauty of the trees around you.

Placed along the Lake Michigan lakeshore in Grant Park about 10 minutes south of Downtown Milwaukee, Seven Bridges Trail offers beautiful scenery that seems like something out of a fairy tail. The trail begins at the the Covered Bridge Entrance which you can access by entering off of Grant Park Drive and Lake Drive. You'll find a parking lot about 1/8th of a mile down the road. Once you cross through the bridge entrance, you'll hit the Main Loop, part of the whole Seven Lions Trail. Admission is free as it is a city park. Bring your camera and some decent hiking shoes and head through the trail to explore! There are several trail sections that you can head down to see more. Too artificial for my taste

As soon as I crossed the first bridge it was evident the amount of work that was put into creating and maintaining this trail. Although it is certainly beautiful, I felt as though I were walking through a garden more than a forest. The stone stairs and walkway make the hike extremely easy and apparently popular as I saw many people on the trail. I tend to favor more secluded, dirt path kind of hikes so I was a bit disappointed. However, if that is not your style I'm sure you'll enjoy this hike.
