Camp on the Islands of the Turtle-Flambeau

The Scenic Waters Area of the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage beckons adventure.

With several launch points, Springstead Landing on Flowage Road  from 182 is the largest with a wide concrete ramp and ample parking.   From there, explore the waterways and select one of the 66 campsites.   Majority of the sites are first come, first serve - requiring no registration or fee.   This, of course, means staking your claim early, and possibly having to redirect fellow paddlers deeper into the Flowage.   The sites do vary in amenities, which may include a picnic table, fire ring and even pit toilets.   This is carry in and carry out, so pack accordingly.

Once camp is set, get out and fish!   Walleyes will definitely grab hold and make it to your dinner plate, as this is an excellent fishery with abundance.   Panfishing will keep you occupied if you hit the peak of their population cycles  or target the many hefty smallies.   For those seeking the pull of the forty pounder, prepare your muskie rod with a massive bladed bucktail.
