Photograph the New River Gorge Bridge

Originally added by Adam Mustafa

A quarter mile downhill walk to a beautiful overlook with great views of the New River Gorge Bridge.

A 0.25 mile wooded boardwalk takes you down to an overlook of the 3,030 foot tall steel arch bridge. There are about 150 steps, so the walk back up the visitor center can be tiring. At the overlook, there is great panoramic views of the gorge and bridge.

The visitor center has bathrooms and has a lot of information about the bridge, construction of the bridge, and the numerous activities that can done in the area. Some activities such as; hiking, climbing, kayaking, mountain biking, and walking across the catwalk below the bridge.

Worth It!

Definitely worth the trip, especially if you're a climber! Don't be afraid to get in your car and drive some of the smaller back roads to get different vantage points of the bridge, may find fewer people in those areas as well as stumble on climbers!

This is definitely worth a visit. There will likely be many other tourists around but the view is worth it. There is also a nice view of the New River Gorge from the back balcony in the visitor's center.

Went here when I was a teenager and it really inspired me to photograph more. Absolutely stunning here.
