Trail is available all year long (depending on your skill level). Great spot for a day hike, a picnic, or spending the night. In the spring, the trail is opening up after the snow melts; in summer, there's backpackers, hikers, and runners; in the fall, you'll find all the serious hiker and runners hitting the trail; great snowshoeing in the winter. Good lake for fishing. Lots of camping spots and fire pits available. Hike about eight miles roundtrip with ~3600 feet of elevation.
From Seattle, drive east on I-90 to exit 47 (Asahel Curtis/Denny Creek). Turn right from the offramp and continue 0.25 miles, then turn left on Forest Road 5590. You'll find the parking area in 0.3 miles.
The TrailThe trail begins alongside the Asahel Curtis Nature Trail but continues to climb to the right when the gentle Asahel Curtis Loop goes left.
About one mile out, you'll pass under a high-tension powerline and 0.25 miles later will cross the wide track of the Iron Horse Trail, the old railroad right of way.
The path switchbacks up the Humpback Creek valley for more than 1.5 miles until the last steep pitch puts you at about 3600 feet of elevation. For the next mile, you'll traverse the slope above Humpback Creek, with occasional views across the valley to Humpback Mountain. The trail ends at the shores of Annette Lake.

Hike the Annette Lake Trail in All Seasons Reviews
This is an easy trail to find off mile 47/Denny Creek exit. It can get busy the later in the day you go so start early to avoid. Well maintained wide trail, you begin with a nice steady climb until it evens out a bit as you get to the lake. Few great waterfalls, one at the beginning and at the end, there are some smaller ones that run over the trail, easy to navigate and great water for the pups. This is a must.
