Morning Jog to Rattlesnake Ledge

North Bend, Washington

Description

Added by Peter Fedorchuk

The trail is short, easy to hike, fun, family friendly, and gives a nice view to end.

My alarm woke me up at 4am and I began to head out to do my first sunrise hike. But of course, like all my attempts at doing a sunrise hike, it fails due to driving to the wrong trailhead. Let me just save you and hour and tell you to take Exit 32 at North Bend (on i90), and take a right at 436th Ave SE for 4 more miles. Then the trail begins. Its a simple, 2 mile hike. You will pass multiple people up and down the trail. Its nice to see people of all ages hiking this trail, it's a popular hike for families who have kids and for beginning hikers. I chose the morning to just do a short jog, take pictures of the beautiful surrounding (even with a cloudy day), and walked around at the bottom of the lake when I got back down. You will know when you arrive at the correct Rattlesnake trail because this one is free parking for all, whereas the Rattsnake Ridge Trail on Exit 27 requires a Discovery Pass. You can also end the day if you'd like with a boat and a fishing rod; the lake is accessible for boating, fishing and kayaking ad well.
