Description

Added by Scott Kranz

While snow camping in this backcountry area, you'll enjoy views of numerous Snoqualmie Pass peaks, including Chair Peak, Bryant Peak, and the Tooth.

Hike or snowshoe to the ridge below Chair Peak and above Snow Lake and camp among numerous Snoqualmie Pass peaks.

Drive to Snoqualmie Pass WA via I-90 and park at the Alpental parking lot (exit 52). Take the Snow Lake trail, which initially climbs 200 feet with wooden steps and eventually evens out for 1-2 miles. Upon reaching the "Source Lake" sign, which indicates that the Snow Lake trail continues to the right, take a right to stay on the Snow Lake trail and start hiking the switchbacks up to the ridge above Snow Lake. Upon reaching the ridge, trek westward toward Chair Peak for about 0.5 miles and find one of many spots to set up your snow camp.

NOTE/WARNING:
Be aware of current snow conditions and avalanche risk. Do not attempt this winter trip without proper knowledge, skill, and gear. Some previous winter travel and avalanche evaluation experience is helpful.
