Description

Added by Colton Jacobs

Peaceful secluded lake with great trout fishing. There are virgin camp spots with clear swimming holes and rocks to jump off.

This is an abandoned trail that heads south along Rainy Creek, off of the downstream section of the Middle Fork Snoqualmie Trail, and up to Rainy Lake. The lake is popular among fisherman, since it is home to lots of trout, but be warned -- route-finding skills are a must on this trip. I do my best to keep the trail free of fallen trees and there are pink trail markers hung up in places, but it can be difficult at times to find the trail.

Rainy Lake lies beneath the exposed rock face of Preacher Mountain. It's not been officially maintained for years, except for the occasional "trail angel", so it does not make for an easy or quick side trip, but it's a worthwhile endeavor for those seeking a more solitary adventure or a challenging hike. Certainly Rainy Lake would be a great base camp for those who want to summit Preacher or the Pulpit, but it is also a lovely and peaceful destination in itself.

Rainy Lake Trail Reviews

One of the best hikes I’ve ever done. There’s a few fallen trees but nothing anyone can go over or around. The view is worth more then words have to offer.
