Swim at the Base of Falling Spring Falls

Hot Springs, Virginia

Description

Added by Jess Fischer

Falling Spring Falls is a beautiful waterfall nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The easy access to the falls makes it not only wonderful to photograph, but it also makes it easy to swim and play in as well!

Park on the side of the road in the designated parking area for Falling Spring Falls (37.867217, -79.947662). From here, go to the right of the parking lot where the black fence ends. Go behind this fence and follow the well beaten path back into the woods. You'll come across a barbed wire fence that has been cut- go through it and keep following the path to the left. You'll first come up to a beautiful swimming hole with a rope swing. Stop here and swim or continue on to the base of the falls. You'll continue to follow the trail until you get to the very top of the waterfall. Take a minute to (carefully) enjoy the view of the mountains beyond. From here start your steep descent downhill. I would hang closer to the cliffs and make your way down, it looks hard but it really is much easier than going any other way. Once you get to the waterfall carefully make your way down the rocks to the base. You'll see the multiple swimming holes at the base of the falls. Enjoy and be safe!
