Hike the First Landing South Loop

This loop starts from the First Landing State Park 64th Street Entrance parking lot. There is a $7 entrance fee to the State Park (it increases to $10 between April - October on the weekends), which can be paid when you arrive. When looking at the trail map I wanted to find a loop that would cover the most diverse area of the South part of the park so I started walking North along the Cape Henry Trail. The Cape Henry Trail is a level, gravel-ish type trail that leads you through the beautiful trees of the park. This is a byway trail that traverses the North and South portions of the park and is the most heavily trafficked. I remained on the Cape Henry Trail until I reached the White Hill Lake Trail and began walking West. After traveling along this trail for 1.4 miles you come to an intersection and make a left to head South along the Long Creek Trail. This portion of the hike is my absolute favorite and where most of the pictures in this post were taken. I remained on the Long Creek Trail until I reached the road. Once you reach the road you can follow it back for a short walk to the start of the hike, or you can cross over to the South side of the road and pick back up the Cape Henry Trail that also leads back to the parking lot.
