Located only one hour from downtown Washington, DC, this 7.1 mile loop has amazing views, beautiful trail and allows you to feel as though you are completely removed the hustle of city life.

The beautiful loop is easy to follow and well marked. If you park in the main parking, you can stop in the house and visitor center to use the bathroom before beginning.

From the parking area, walk slightly up hill towards the Park Office. Just before the office, turn right on the green blazed Boston Mill Road trial. Follow this trail to a large field, turning right to pick up the pink blazed James Ball Trail. Continue the James Ball Trail for approximately 1 miles. You will have views of the valley ponds and then climb a small rise through the trees before entering another field. In this field you will pass the main picnic area for the park. The trail will continue to the left and cross over a road.

Next you will pick up the Corporal Morgan Trail (brown blaze). Turn right on this trail and follow a short distance to the next trail marker. Stay left to continue the brown blaze. Cross a small creek. The brown blaze with turn right and the teal Hadow Trail turns left.

Turn left onto the teal Hadow trail. You will pass another large field with east facing views. Shortly you will pass over the main access road just inside the park. Continue following this trail as it climbs up to the gravel road (Boston Mill).

Turn left on Boston Mill road and then 0.1 miles to a right into a field and continue to South Ridge Trail.

Follow the South Ridge Trail (yellow) uphill. You will pass an overlook, homestead ruins and another overlook. Continue following uphill into a wooded area and then reach the intersection of the North Ridge Trail (blue blazed).  This is approximately 1.5 miles.

You will turn left to follow the blue blaze for approximately 0.3 miles before hitting the white blazed AT.

Turn right (north) on the AT.  Follow for approximately 0.8 miles and descend to the mountain meadows. You will turn right on the Ambassador Whitehouse Trail as it goes through the meadow and renters the forest. At about 1 mile you will turn left onto the North Ridge Trail for short distance and then left on the Piedmont Overlook Trail. You will cross a fence stile into an open field and get an amazing panoramic view of Piedmont Valley. Continue down the trail for the remaining 0.8 miles back to Boston Mill Road. Turn left and follow the road back to the parking area.
