High Point State Park is very underrated! It was gorgeous inside the park and would be a fun place to drive around and view the Fall Foliage and go for a picnic. The hike itself was pretty, but it was difficult to see the view because the trail was more tucked into the inner part of the woods. Also, note that to continue this loop you have to follow the baby blue markers once you arrive at the monument. On the monument look out facing the lake, you will see these light blue markers going downhill. Follow these to the red/green blazes to get back to the parking lot.

Completed this hike on October 14th and it was the most perfect day! The fall foliage had hues of orange, yellow, and red and was probably the most spectacular foliage I've seen in the Hudson Valley. The pictures above do not do the trail or look-out points any justice. The hike was definitely more difficult on the last leg, right after you have reached the nose and continue on the Millbrook Mountain trail. Great photo opps and ideal Autumn hike.

Do not do this hike if you are afraid of heights! We saw a man leave his wife and turn around because of this. You're climbing almost vertically for a good portion of the hike. Although short in mileage, it is very steep so hikers tend to ascend slowly. Very thrilling but gorgeous views and VERY FUN! By far the best hike in Acadia National Park.
