Quechee Gorge is a beautiful place for a short and easy hike.

Quechee ("Kwee-chee") Gorge is an extremely accessible yet beautiful hike in Central Vermont great for photographers, birders or anyone who enjoys nature.

Well marked trails lead you to the bottom of the gorge and up to the top of the dam. The hike itself is very easy, but takes you along the Ottauquechee River and Dewey's Pond with scenic views and a lot of wildlife. This is a great spot for birders and photographers. The path down to the bottom of the gorge is a bit steep, but still quite easy.

The trailhead can be conveniently found at the Quechee Gorge Visitor Center (post mapped to this location).  The Visitor Center is easily spotted on Route 4 across the street from the Quechee Gorge Village- you can't miss it!

From the beginning of the trailhead it is about 0.5 miles to the bottom of the Gorge and 0.3 miles to the dam overlook. I recommend seeing both. Beyond the dam is the lake which is a great photo spot as well as a great spot to see wildlife. During my trip here I did about 3 miles total taking everything in.

When your'e done at the Gorge you should check out the Vermont Institute of Natural Sciences adjacent and then drive into Woodstock and grab lunch at the Woodstock Farmers Market.
