Description

Added by Eric Bennett

Grotto Falls is a unique and picturesque semi-hidden waterfall. There are hardly any crowds for this short beginners hike and there's easy access with campgrounds nearby.

Heading in the canyon you will drive along a winding road for a while until you pass through a gate (Closed during Winter, this is where you will need to pull over and continue down the road on foot) about a mile up you will see a trailhead on the left called "Bennie Creek" and right after you will see the "Grotto Trail" sign on the left just up the road. You will see many mini trails branching off but just stay on the main one that follows along the creek. You will have to zig zag a few times across the creek. The waterfall is at the end of the trail just about 0.15 miles from the trailhead.

The waterfall is the strongest during the spring, although it looks cool with some snow and ice in the winter. It's a great hike if you want to get away for a bit and don't have too much time. There are also lots of campsites nearby along the same road. Definitely stop by if you are in the area!

Grotto Falls Reviews

When we went on a Saturday it was very crowded. Otherwise it is a gorgeous waterfall.

This is right off the road by about 20 minutes. Avoid the weekends as it can get crowded, and the spring runoff can really affect the falls a great deal. Definitely recommend if you're in Payson Canyon!
