Beach Camp On Lake Powell's Lone Rock Beach

Details

Added by Dustin Landon

Beach camping! Beautiful scenery. Warm water. No reservations. Drive right on to the beach and pick a spot or sleep in your car. Enjoy fiery sunsets and beautiful sunrises.

Just twelve miles north of Page, Arizona on Highway 89 across the Utah border, Lone Rock Beach is a great open beach where you can drive right up and make camp anywhere you like. There is a $10 fee to get on the beach and it can get a little busy during the summer, but it seems like you can always find a nice spot to call your own. Eight miles south is Wahweap Marina where you can put in boats and jet-skis.When we rolled in it was dark and had no idea what to expect but we woke up to an amazing sunrise over the red rock canyons and beautiful Lake Powell. Definitely going again!

Getting there is super easy - look for the turn off of Highway 89 onto Lone Rock Beach Road just before or just past the Utah/Arizona border, depending on which direction your driving.

Great scenery on the beach

Being able to camp anywhere on the beach was pretty cool. You can go swim in the water and then walk right back up to your tent. The view of Lone Rock and the canyon beyond really add to the experience. There is a shower and running water at the building as you come in, which we didn't realize til we were leaving.

Serene Scene

Highly recommend. Need 4WD especially when raining. Best views before sunrise and at sunset. Part of national park pass.

Great Place To Camp For Cheap In Springtime

Stayed here first couple days in April and this is some of the best camping you can do for cheap anywhere around. Great scenic location and water is ice cold. Easy to find a place that isn't crowded if that's what you like. Campfires on the beach, flushing toilets and sand isn't anywhere near as bad as I've heard. Only a couple small spots in the middle and on the far right. If your in doubt, get out and make sure it's not one of those if you have two wheel drive. Other than that $7 a night and free entry if you have America the beautiful park pass.
