Gorilla Tracking
Kisoro, Uganda
Description
Added by Samantha Lategan
This is an amazing hike through the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to find the local Mountain gorilla groups which move around the rain forest. Bwindi is one of two reserves within the boundaries of Uganda that are home to mountain gorillas. The second park, Virunga, is part of Uganda, Rwanda and the DEmocratic Republic of the Congo. The hike may range between 4-8 hours and a day permit is required per day per person.
An experience of a life time as you see the very rare mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. There are 3 gorilla groups in the rain forest near the Bwindi lodge. A 4-8 hour hike through the Bwindi national park rainforest is experienced with guides who lead you to a gorilla group. Permits are purchased per person, per day and are currently around $650. This park is in southern Uganda and requires the hikers to stay in accommodation nearby. A recommended lodge would be Bwindi lodge, with accomodating and friendly staff who will go out of their way to make you feel at home, and is a common place to spot the gorillas roaming through.
