Highlights

  • Hike along Middle Prong Trail, with its cascading waterfalls and foaming white water, and continue on to Indian Creek Falls – a hidden gem off the path with a cascade entering an inviting pool
  • Explore Alum Cave Trail, perhaps the most spectacular trail in the park, as we walk through an old growth forest, pass Alum Cave, and climb the ridge line with 360 degree views 
  • Venture along the Appalachian Trail to Charlies Bunion, a knobby rock outcropping high above the surrounding parts of the park
  • From the southern end of the park, hike a loop trail that passes waterfalls, winds along a ridge top and then follows picturesque Deep Creek through a shaded gorge
  • Bag Mt. LeConte, the heart and soul of the Smoky Mountains

Day 1 (6 miles): Assemble in Knoxville, and van shuttle to hike Middle Prong Trail

Day 2 (11 miles):  Alum Cave Trail, Mt Le Conte

Day 3 (11 miles):  Gregory ridge Trail

Day 4 (8 miles):  Appalachian Trail from Newfound Gap to Charlies Bunion

Day 5 (13.5 miles): Loop – Deep Creek trailhead along Deep Creek trail – Indian Creek Trail, Loop Trail, Sunkota Ridge, Martins Gap Trail, Deep Creek trail

Day 6 (5 miles): Loop- Elkmont along the Little River Trail, Cucumber Ridge Trail, Jakes Creek Trail
