Description

Added by Kathleen Young

In the heart of the Panhandle in Texas lies Palo Duro State Park, an area full of hiking and bike trails, and the second largest canyon in the United States. This park offers cabins as well as backpack camp areas with free range of the park.

Near the back of the park provides parking where you can leave your car and venture off into the grounds to find an open place to camp. A good quarter mile hike in will get you to a perfect secluded spot to camp. The terrain is different from most areas of Texas, given the hills and canyons surrounding the site. It's a beautiful area about a half an hour from Amarillo.
