This amazing waterfall is the perfect place to pack in a picnic lunch; as you eat you can watch the river rush by and be cooled off by mist from the falls.

Starting at the parking lot at the end of Power House Road, take the path to the right (if you're looking into the parking lot from the road) and follow the short trail until you intersect with the main pathway. From this point go straight; there will be a big boulder or two but you can easily walk between them. From here you will be rock hopping and making your own path out to the falls. It's that easy!

Twin Falls was created when Great Falls Dam (upstream from the waterfall) was built and it caused the Collins River to rise. This caused water to seep its way into underground caverns on the south side of the "island" and that water escaped from the flooded caverns through the rocks you see above on the north side! Pretty neat huh? It also makes for a very unique waterfall because the river does not abruptly fall down in a typical style of waterfall.

We grabbed local home-made-country-store BLT's from Rock Island Market before we got to the falls and ate them right under the falls (the cold mist was a welcome on a hot spring day).
