Description

Added by Meagan Evans

The park features hundreds of acres of intact former rice fields complete with quarter drain canals and water control structures, nine different habitats, an exhibit center and interpretive stops along trails.

There are over 6 miles of trails with trail-side exhibits. Mostly rice fields. 1,435 feet of elevated boardwalks for viewing the swamps. Caw caw is noted for its rich bird life with tri-colored herons, bald eagles, egrets, great blue herons, various hawks, cormorants, pileated woodpeckers, swallow-tailed kites, etc. There are a lot of alligators here and in the spring there are a lot of babies! Watch out for snakes!
