Although Paris Mountain is known for it's hiking, camping, kayaking, swimming, fishing, and trail running; it is even more famous for its Cycling and Mountain Biking. With trails ranging from beginner to expert, Paris Mountain is an ideal place for Bikers. In fact it has hosted multiple competitions for bikers from all over the country. It is also an ideal place to ride for cyclists that like to stick to the road. The mountain has a 2,000+ foot ascent on a twisting windy road with a steep incline but once you reach the top you can fly down the back side of the mountain. Paris Mountain is such a great cycling spot that it holds the USA Cycling National Championships including a huge loop from downtown Greenville all the way to the top of the mountain and back.
With more than 12 miles of wooded trails, Paris Mountain is home to some of the best Mountain Biking in South Carolina. It is also well known for its strenuous and endurance road cycling.
Mountain Biking is not allowed on the weekends and the trails are only open for hikers so make sure you go on a week day if you are going to ride! I recommend parking at the top of the mountain and going down Sulfur Springs on the front side. You have to climb back up but the ride down is fast, technical, and has some great banks to hit. The back side also has a fun loop that goes down to the lake and back to your car at the top.
