I hiked from the Scottsdale Trailhead to the Gateway Trailhead to train for the Grand Canyon. It is quite the incline going up, but the views and scenery make it absolutely worth it! If you stop when you turn from hiking south to west at the top and look at the view, you can sometimes spot the fountain going off in Fountain Hills! Bring lots of water and snacks. Take breaks on the steep inclines. I did see a desert tortoise once right by the Fountain lookout. Beautiful hike for sure.

This is one of my favorite hikes in Arizona because it's just so fun! I personally love all the navigating and rock-hopping. Kids really love it too. If you aren't very confident about your physical ability, I would probably not recommend taking the way I usually go. To get the most out of this amazing location, bring your sense of adventure and your climbing skills! It's not too expensive to go in, and they even have a tiny convenience store. The bathrooms are really nice and there's a picnic area where you come in. Families love to play games there. Last time I went, the stairs straight to the bridge were UNDER CONSTRUCTION. For the explorers, this is good news, because it leaves the actual bridge relatively uncrowded. I always take the right-most entrance. You take a easy hike down into the canyon and go left... and then it's up to you to adventure your way down to the bridge! There are arrows to help you navigate the best way. There is one spot as you get down under the bridge that is very slippery. DO NOT go down it unless you are VERY CONFIDENT in your abilities. You could slip down into the water and get very banged up. But if you're up for the challenge, it's worth getting the picture and seeing the waterfall. Look up at the birds and the geology. It's a thrilling and immersive hike! To the adventurous, go for it!

This is my favorite hike to take Arizona visitors on. The West Fork Trail is absolutely beautiful, and it's very fun to cross back and forth over the creek. Bring a hammock, bring lunch, and bring the family. It's more than a hike; it's a discovery. There are beautiful fall colors that last into the winter, and gorgeous spring flowers that last into the summer. Though it is a popular hike, it's long enough that it's usually not very crowded- especially the farther you go. Something I would note that hasn't been shared: I love hiking this trail in the fall and winter! However, it becomes extremely cold compared to the rest of the canyon. Bring extra warm layers. (And if you're coming from Sedona, stop at the Indian Garden Cafe! It's my favorite restaurant in AZ! Healthy and delicious lunch and desserts with an adventurous atmosphere! They also have food for the go to take along on the hike!)

I've gone to the Rio Verde river a handful of times, and it's quite an oasis. There are lots trees- good for setting up the hammock. The water is great for tubing in the summer. It's a beautiful place, but don't go on holidays or hot days, because it gets a little crowded.
