Swung through on the way to GCNP. Really nice area, although sites are hard to find in winter. With any snow cover you would want 4WD.

You do have to pack gear in and out, but this is a fantastic overnight trip. Natural shelter offers protection from the elements, and the view of the river and forest is fantastic from the bluff.

If you want to see a gator, start with 40 acre lake! Be sure you know how to navigate with the map, and bring bug spray. With companions it can be a very enjoyable hike

Not particularly well maintained, and not much to see. Conceded, I went a few days after a storm, but water was murky and wildlife was sparse. Except for the flies— which deet does very little to combat, unfortunately (though it worked wonders with mosquitoes).
