One of the best places in Marin Catch a epic sunset. Great opportunities to bring food and hang out with your friends. If you want to get moving, bring your dog for a stroll and just get away. East Ridgecrest is drivable until you reach the trail to the East Peak.

This road provides one of the most scenic views of the pacific from north of the Golden Gate. It's a little bit of a windy drive or ride along Highway 1 or Panoramic Highway (depending on which way you choose) to get to East Ridgecrest. But, if you remembered to pack a picnic, brought your friends and are seeing the sun start to set, you'll be glad you made the trip.

Along the drive up East Ridgecrest, there are plenty of pullouts where you can park at a trailhead and stretch your legs on a quick hike. If you want to make it to Mt Tam's highest peak, continue on East Ridgecrest until it ends. From here, you can jump on a 1.2 mile trail, which will take you up to the mountain's 2,570 foot peak.

If you're looking for a good spot to grab a few snacks before heading to Mt. Tam from SF, stop by Davey Jones Deli.

Picturesque Views from Mt. Tam's East Ridge Reviews

Hiked to the top of East Peak at the end of the day and watched the sun sink beneath the fog. If you go at sunset, definitely bring a jacket because it gets chilly once the sun goes down! On a clear day, you can see a 360 degree view of the Bay Area, including a towering Mt. Diablo and a shimmering San Francisco in the distance. On a foggy day, stand above the clouds and admire the view of an ocean of rolling fog.
