Hike Mount Davidson
Added by M P
Mt Davidson is home to the tallest peak in SF (not Twin Peaks) and a great place to snap a few shots of the city. You can bring your 4-legged friend. (s) (but leashes are required). Duration: <1 hour.
Mount Davidson Park is located in the southwestern part of the city nestled between Diamond Heights and Portola Dr. The climb isn't too difficult, but to reach the top of the 928ft summit, you should wear close-toed shoes and be ready for some loose gravel or mud if it's been raining. The hike is short - you can round-trip it in well under an hour if you're looking to get moving, but if you have some time, grab a sandwich from Monterey Deli a few blocks away and take in the view. If you're looking to get a little exercise or take an evening stroll and catch the sunset, the views from the peak are unbeatable.

Short and easy hike up the hill with plenty of parking all around. Good views of various parts of the city. Get to see the Mt Davidson cross up close. Popular place for dogs. During spring time the hill is covered in yellow and orange flowers.

Best Escape from the City
Mount Davidson might be my favorite place to get my nature fix in all of San Francisco. If you go on a foggy morning, it can feel magical. Forests of towering eucalyptus trees, a 100-foot-tall cross in memoriam of the Armenian Genocide, and #thatSFtree can all be found on Mount Davidson. For a small area, there is a surprising amount of landscape to explore. Great place for a dog walk, too.

Short hike, but a great escape from the city! Tends to be mystically foggy and makes for epic sunrise or sunset photos over the SF skyline. There is an iconic, crooked tree that hangs over the horizon here as well.
