Overnight trip to Sykes hot springs

Big Sur, California

Description

Added by Kat Carney

A beautiful hike through redwood forests, mountain terrain, and ocean views, ending at pristine hot springs in a gorgeous river valley.

Begin at the parking lot at the Ranger Station in the Ventana Wilderness. Parking is $5/day so make sure to fill out your envelope before hitting the trail. The Pine Ridge Trail is well marked and easy to follow. It winds up over mountain passes and there are several campsites on the way to the Sykes Campground, 10 miles from the trailhead. After reaching the Sykes campground, hike down stream about another 1/4 mile and you will see (and smell) the hot springs!
