An awesome Sunset Spot and it's Free! Also, you can bring Your Dog!

Both sides of the pier are awesome to shoot but depending on the time of the year/sun position one might be better than the other. Super mellow beach to chill out at and watch the sunset. You can get some awesome reflections in the tide. Keep an eye on your gear as there can be sketchy crackheads/homeless people wandering around this area but its usually really safe.

When shooting the ocean you can get a really cool effect of the moving tide and show some motion if you slow your shutter speed down to about "5 or so. If you go too slow you will lose the detail and texture in the waves that really provoke the feeling of motion in the image.

Catch a Sunset at Oceanside Pier Reviews

There's plenty of parking even with all the new construction going on. Lots of great food and places to grab drinks at. It has one of the biggest piers I've ever walked on.

A great place to capture SoCal sunsets with TONS of parking and ample food all around. Don't be surprised to see dolphins.
