Description

Added by The Outbound Collective

Located on Narragansett Bay at the end of the historic Ocean Drive Castle Hill Lighthouse is an active navigation aid for vessels entering the East Passage between Conanicut Island and Aquidneck Island.

Park at the Castle Hill Cove Marina and walk across the street. Follow the sidewalk left and you will see a small sign that states "Castle Hill Lighthouse" on your right. Follow the short well beaten path to the lighthouse. You will hear the waves crashing and smell the fresh ocean air.

The lighthouse itself is closed to the public but the grounds are not. There is a series of stairs leading down to the lighthouse. Here you can go out on the rock, use caution.

From the area of the lighthouse you can view the Castle Hill Inn and the Newport Bridge. The lighthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

This lighthouse is small but it has a beautiful view of the Newport bridge and a beautiful view of the water too.
