Amazing ocean views and Newport's Mansions are just some of what this beautiful walk will greet you with.

The 3.5 mile Cliff Walk is a National Recreation Trail in a National Historic District. I chose to start at the western end of Easton's or First Beach at Memorial Blvd. and walk south. The first two-thirds of the walk is very easy walking conditions. Parts of the southern half of the walk are a uneven trail over the natural shoreline. I ended at ends at Bellevue Ave. (at the east end of Bailey's Beach also referred to as Reject's Beach).

The walk offers amazing ocean views. You can sometimes watch the surfers riding the waves in areas. The wildflowers and birds are also a delight. Besides the vast Atlantic views, the Historic Mansions are a sight themselves. Architecturally stunning with lawns spilling to the walk.

Some of the featured Mansions along the way include Ochre Court, Vinland Estate, The Breakers and the Marble House.

Once complete you can choose to retrace your steps, or walk back along Bellvue Ave seeing several other Mansions (as well as the opposite side of some of the ones you just viewed). You can also take a trolley back for a 2.00 fee.

Take a Stroll on the Newport Cliff Walk Reviews

I loved strolling along and seeing all the beautiful mansions and views from this walk. We even got splashed quite a bit from the waves, very refreshing. :-)

I lived in Newport for several years and the cliff walk never gets old!

The Cliff Walk is a great walking trail along the coast. Especially awesome in the winter when it's cold and empty, or after a big storm.
