Four-hour hike to a great view of Cusco.
Starting at the top of Urb. Santa Maria (-13.523012, -71.896159), trek through the eucalyptus forest to the plateau area. The trail follows the river and goes to the mirador picol. There is a well marked trail after that. Stay on the trail or you will end up on the edge of a cliff and have to backtrack. After getting through the forest area you will get to a flat spot where the tree line ends. (-13.511796, -71.894871). You will see the trail heading up the mountain. Stay to the right to take the easiest way. After that follow the brutally steep trail to the summit. The summit is marked with a cross. (-13.498413, -71.883085). Because the summit is at 14,000 ft. the air is thin and it makes it a hard hike. The view is totally worth it. We learned about this hike after talking to some locals.
