The Ultimate Camping Blanket? Outbound Reviewed: The Rumpl Puffy Blanket

If you’ve ever wanted a sleeping bag turned into a blanket, Rumpl is for you.

By: Paulina Dao + Save to a List

There are picnic blankets and then there is the Rumpl: an ever-stylish, increasingly popular, nearly-ubiquitous sleeping-bag-turned blanket that has taken the camping world by storm.

And not without cause: it comes in dozens of styles (I tested this California-Flag blanket as part of road trip on California's Central Coast) and has become near-synonymous with technical blankets. The 20D ripstop nylon shell is water resistant and treated with DWR.  The interior is stuffed with 240g 3D Hollow Fiber synthetic insulation typically comfortable to 40°F (~4°C). The fabric sheds water, dust, dirt, cat hair, snow and more, so you can take it anywhere you want. And when not in use you can stuff it into the provided sack, and boy does it pack down small.

The only minor downside to such a versatile fabric is that it tends to slide off your body easily. If you are sharing with someone, it may be a vicious game of tug-o-war. You may want to BYO-Blanket...more Rumpls is never a bad thing.

The Rumpl is equally at home on your bed, in the back of your car or van, under your bum as a picnic blanket, or staving off the cold around your shoulders. Fun prints and designs mean your blanket will always be a conversation starter.
