Beautiful lake. View of Mount Hood. Campground. Boating. Swimming. Fishing. Hiking/biking trails.

Trillium Lake is a popular camp spot at the base of Mount Hood. It's known for it's scenery, abundant recreational activities, and is family friendly. Boating, swimming and fishing are quite popular on the 63 acre lake. There is a small boat ramp within the campground and a larger ramp available in the day use area. An accessible fishing pier is also available.

My friend and I just went down for the night to catch the sunset and possible northern lights show. There were nice big rocks along the shoreline for sitting and a family of friendly ducks to keep us company throughout the evening.

The calm lake provides a beautiful reflection of Mount Hood and once the sun goes down, the lights from the snow plows on the mountain reflect on the lake as well. It makes for a beautiful and unique site.

From Portland, travel southeast on Highway 26 for about 40 miles. Turn right a mile east of Government Camp at the easy to spot "Trillium Lake" sign.

Trillium Lake Reviews

I visited Trillium Lake in mid-winter, and boy was it crowded! Of course, I brought that upon myself by going on a sunny Saturday. But keep in mind that even in winter, you'll want to get to the Sno-Park early in order to get a parking space. While snow conditions are likely to change, the trail was packed down enough that snowshoes and skis weren't even necessary (but of course, they don't hurt). There is also tons of signage guiding snowshoers/skiiers on the loop trail around the lake (~5 miles total, mostly flat), so this was a very family-friendly route as far as snow adventures go.

Trillium Lake is a must for anyone in the area!!!! Easily one of the coolest places in Oregon
