The Abiqua Falls is a majestic waterfall in Oregon located just only 1 and a half hours drive away from Portland.

The recommended car is an all wheel drive but 2 wheel drive with high clearance should be okay. Choose the day when there isn't too much rain before as you need to be off the pavement road.

Finding the trailhead is a daunting task. If you follow the Crooked Finger Rd, follow it until the pavement ends, then drive a little further (around 1 mile), and you will see the poorly marked sign leading to the gravel road on the right. Now, make the right onto that road and you will be 1.5 miles away from the trailhead. Follow the road until you reach the large yellow gate (it should be closed) and you can park the car there. Walk back up the road and take the second trail on the right because the first is rough and steep. That's a the trailhead which isn't marked or poorly marked).

The trail will have 2 sections: Down the hills and along the creek. The first section of the trail starts at 1,420 feet. The first 0.3 mile is relatively stable and downhills. There is a last few section that you will need a rope (provided). Continue dropping down, you will approach the creek. The elevation change is around 200 feet.

When the rope ends, you then need to start the second section by turning left and walking upstream along the creek. This section is stable but rocky and poorly maintained so be prepared to scramble. There are some big logs you probably need to climb up or crawl under. Follow the creek around 0.2 mile until you reach the the falls.
