Beautiful view with super short approach
If you're looking for a minimal effort pit stop on the drive through the Columbia River Gorge with huge bang for your buck, this is the spot. Rowena Crest is an iconic viewpoint that creates a horseshoe curve along the road. This unique shape is one of the most photographed roads in Oregon. It's a very short walk from the parking lot to sweeping views of the surrounding hills, cliffs, and the gorge below.
If youre coming from Portland (or just from the west) on the 84, Hood RIver is a nice little town with lots of awesome spots to eat. Double Mountain Brewery is just one that comes to mind - awesome pizza, beer, and more.

Must see!
The drive up to the crest involves winding roads and it's actually fun to drive to. Once you're on the crest you just park your car and if you want you can hop over the wall to take better pictures of the crest.

Awesome Eastern Gorge Viewpoint
I LOVE this viewpoint - it's probably the best in the gorge for viewing the basaltic cliffs that dominate the eastern half of the gorge. For the more intense out there, this is also the turnaround point for the Columbia River Gorge Marathon!
