Camp at Trillium Lake

Trillium Lake Winter Pull-Off - Search Nearby - Added by Kyle Szegedi

Trillium Lake is a great spot for overnight camping with picturesque views of Mt. Hood.

The reflection of Mt. Hood on the lake makes this trip definitely worth the visit.

Try to arrive during the day so you can watch the sunset. For photographers, the south side of the lake is an amazing spot to take photos, especially on a windless day. For those looking to kayak or fish, there is also boat launch area.

There are plenty of trees along the lakeside that are perfect for setting up a hammock, as well as a number of campsites. To reserve campsites and check availability, call toll-free 1-(877)-444-6777. Reservations are available from Memorial Day through Labor Day ($20 per night), whereas before and after those dates, camping is first-come, first-served, and free of charge. Fires are permitted there.

Getting there: From Portland, take Highway 26 East until you reach the Zigzag Ranger District building. Park at the Trillium Lake Trailhead parking lot, or, if you visit during the summer, the gate will be open and you can drive all the way down to the lake, and park there. Otherwise, it is only a 2-2.5 mile-long hike down the road. Note that a Sno-Park permit is required to park at the trailhead during the winter.

Snowboard + Camp

Awesome spot! Love riding Timberline and camping here, almost that time of year!

Crowded, but a "must camp"

With all the Trillium shots I was seeing on IG, I had to check it out. It's a great spot, and if you can snag the huge campsite just on the right as you pull in to the southernmost overflow camping, you are golden! One of the best campsites I've ever had.
