Hang out above the clouds on this 5.2-mile hike in Jørpeland, Norway.

On the day i was there it was rainy in the morning so the trail and everything else was wet.

From the parking lot the trail is well labeled and the hike being a short 2.6 miles is pretty tough since the elevation changes over 1000 feet. The once rough trail has recently been redone by some Nepalese Sherpa and its much more tourist friendly.

The hike takes you through the woods and as i mentioned up some rocky faces which can be slick, so good hiking shoes are recommended. As you'll see from one of the photos, sandals and heels are not good for this hike.

At the top you'll hike around a few lakes before taking the trail along a step cliff to the plateau. From here, you get beautiful views of Lyse fjord. and if you're daring enough a cliff hanger photo op you'll never forget.

Hike to Preikestolen Reviews

This is my 4th hike to Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock). I usually spend about 4 to 5 hours on this hike. I’m not actually a really sporty person so this is a walking destination the majority can do! It’s a perfect hike for families. During the summer it tends to get pretty crowded, so I would recommend to start your day early if you want to get a parkng slot. 🏞😊

This is a gorgeous way to see the fjords of Norway. I considered it pretty easy, and it was shorter than I expected. Take your time at the rock, meet some people there. It will likely be pretty crowded (unless you go around sunrise/sunset), so be aware that getting a photo without people in your background will be almost impossible. And don't miss exploring the nearby town of Stavanger while you're there.

From what I heard this is the most popular destination in all of Scandinavia, and for good reason. The landscape of the fjords, the forest and wetlands along the trail and of course the stunning sheer drop of the cliff make this a truly exceptional spot. Go in the off-season if you can, but be well-aware of weather conditions because it can be much more dangerous in the winter.
