Description

You can walk for miles and miles or just go out for an hour on these easy, well marked trails that circle around the forest. If you're feeling adventurous there are dozens of little side trails you can explore. The best bit? The main trails are lit until 10pm so you can have a winter wonderland nighttime hike.

From the car park at the trailhead, there is an easy few-kilometre stroll up a wide path to the first split in the path.Pick a different coloured arrow (I went red....then white...then green....then off trail all together!) and follow the circular routes around the woods.

It can feel like you're totally lost as you never really emerge from the woods so getting your bearings is difficult but these routes are circular and you'll eventually end up at on of the little cabins within the forest from where you can figure out where you are and redirect. You could do one loop of the Red Route and spend an hour or two. Or do what I did and get pleasantly lost off trail, while never feeling truly out of your comfort zone.

These are easy trails and even in snow and ice I was fine in just hiking boots.I took a little dog that also found these routes no difficulty at all.

There are little cabins in the woods and plenty of perfect spots to have a picnic, so I'd suggest pack some food and a flask and enjoy!I didn't take a map or compass: the routes are all well marked and circular around a smallish section of the woods.
