Photograph a breath taking sunrise in the Great Smoky Mountains.

Newfound gap is located right after the turn to Clingmans Dome as soon as you cross the the North Carolina border on the right. The sun rises in the Newfound Gap and makes this this a great place to photograph a sunrise. The view piers down the Smokys leading you into rows of mountains.

This area is not as popular and gets ignored for the majority. You will only encounter mostly local photographers from time to time here in the mornings.

Note: There is a small creek as well in the back of the parking area where you can find wildflowers in the spring.
