Too artificial for my taste

As soon as I crossed the first bridge it was evident the amount of work that was put into creating and maintaining this trail. Although it is certainly beautiful, I felt as though I were walking through a garden more than a forest. The stone stairs and walkway make the hike extremely easy and apparently popular as I saw many people on the trail. I tend to favor more secluded, dirt path kind of hikes so I was a bit disappointed. However, if that is not your style I'm sure you'll enjoy this hike.

Something worth driving for

My friends and I spent a weekend down in Southern IL and this was one of our favorite stops. The views are comparable to Devil's Lake in Baraboo, WI and are likely at their best in the fall when the leaves change colors. The main observation area was fairly busy, but the ease of the hike and quality of reward still made it well worth it. This definitely should be on your list as a stop anytime you find yourself in the area.
